You were dealt tough cards,

Both of them were prisoners of bottle.

You've done all this,

because You are not weak,

not a victim.

Win for Father,

Win for Son.

Proud of You Adam

Tough indeed. But we won. Thank you, Warrior.

Adam, appreciate your story. Did you found Rehabitus and did you come up with that name by yourself?

This reminds me of the Stoic principle that Ryan Holiday always preaches: Nobody else can make you mad.

It's you who chooses the path, no matter what hand you've been dealt.

I also think your Rehabitus community is an awesome idea and a great way to help others with your knowledge. Something else you could create would be some kind of '30 days to sober' system or process that helped you :)

Much respect mate!

That’s it mate. Thank you. The thing is, it’s easy to read or to listen to something like the Stoic approach to not getting mad. But when it really happens upon you, it’s a different story, and theory or application might go out the window. It’s only in truly internalising and embodying these practices that matter. Hey thanks for the support!

Love this Adam. Remembering it’s not our fault but it is our responsibility is so helpful. It means we have power over our choices.

It’s liberating to feel this way too. I believe that I mimicked them, for sure. And escaped pain, and every other factor. I strongly believe that I had all the ingredients for the destructive path. But it was ultimately me that chose the path. I could have seen what alcohol does, and chose the opposite. I didn’t then but I do now.

Thank you Ellie.

I really admire your attitude. It is so much easier to blame others of your choices, but true freedom comes when we accept 100% responsibility for our actions.

It's wonderful that you have your dad's support. I'm sure that means a lot.

It sure does, Georgia.

I'm incredibly fortunate to have such strong support around me right now.

I truly appreciate everything, including your recent paid subscription--it was a very pleasant surprise. Thank you for being such a force for good, Georgia. I'm so happy I discovered your work as well.

Glad your Dad supports. When he was alive mine did also! Sadly he passed in 2012.

Adam, this hits hard, simple and sweet. Sweet in that there is a beauty you and your father share, with the ability to talk about these things, man-to-man, father-to-son, that I've found lacking in most other's recovery - including my own. Blessing to you, Man, and all the best in those groups!

Thank you so much, Victoria.

Yes I founded this, and the name came from googling Latin translations of words approximately meaning ‘identity’ or ‘personality’ and such. As it happens ‘habitus’ is a Latin word that’s used in sociology and medicine. Then I stuck the ‘re’ on the front meaning ‘again’ and impressed my girlfriend with it (who loves Latin).

With her enthusiastic approval, the name was set.
