“Not everyone is ready for real change. Not everyone wants to get better. And some don’t want you to get better either.

When someone shows you who they are, believe them.”

I did it to save my life not to impress or receive validation from anyone else. Although that encouragement from others is helpful some people approach recovery with only the thought of approval from others. It has to come from within.

Good stuff. My definition of recovery evolves. Currently it is the expression of my relationship to “Truth” and my commitment towards the responsibility of my actions on that “Truth”.

It’s interesting how when we evolve, so do other things. I appreciate the read and the feedback, thank you.

This really resonated with me. It makes a lot of sense that you have to leave that circus and find a new environment. Like you point out, part of that environment is your own body. Movement is an antidepressant more effective than anything the doctor could give you, so exercise can really change the playing field.

💯

Movement really is an antidepressant—that’s a crucial way to sell it to someone who might need to hear it like that.

Thank you, Tim.

What a read!

Things that resonated - addiction falls off like a shell once we evolve, own your shit, pain is an indicator not an enemy, numbness is the enemy/connection is our friend.

Always thoughtful and to the point.

Great job Adam!

Great essay, Adam, really enjoyed this read. This isn’t just a sobriety guide; it’s a guide to rebuilding your life. The truths you share resonate deeply with anyone navigating a reset, whether it's addiction, burnout, heartbreak, or simply feeling stuck. Honest, grounded, and deeply applicable to real-life growth.
